THE WAIRAEAPA MEETING. TARANAKI COMPETITORS. Per Press Association. CARTERTON, March 1. The twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rille Association opened at Papawai to-day. Hie weather was overcast, and the wind blowing did not affect shooting at the first two ranges. One hundred and sixty-six entries were received, and all except four accepted. Sergt. Leslie Loveday, the King's Prize winner, is competing, as are most of the former New Zealand champions. A heavy wind was blowing from the north-west when the marksmen went down for the Wellington match, and “fish tails” were frequent, with the result that many challenges invariably ended in the marker signalling “Clean target.” Forty tyros are competing. Results:— Bid will Match (figure targets), 300 yards, 10 shots.—C. J. Nix (Featherston), 49. £-4; H. B. Maunsell (Karori), 48, £3; H. Marshall (Karori),, 47, £3; O.
