The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co. reports: Beef.—Tho general aspect as regards freezing is not bright, a considerable quantity of fat stock that should have found its way to the works being held up on account of strike and other causes:. To compensate this, however, the demand for good heef for local consumption has improved and a scarcity of good bullocks is apparent. Mutton,—Mutton is in fair supply and has not shown much alteration since the previous week. Store Cattle.—The tendency in this class is still upward, and good competition exists at most sales. The demand for grown and forward bidlocks lias been very much strengthened, while 18 months to 21-year cattle are firm at last week’s rates. The inquiry for weaner calves, though at times very strong must iu general be classed ns erratic.. Store Sheep.—The market for wethers both forward and in store condition has been exceedingly good, and tiie position may also bo stated thus with regard to lambs. Breeding ewes, although slightly easier, continue nevertheless to draw strong competition. ■Dairy Heifers.—There is considerable inquiry at present for early spring cslvcrs, although few have so far been yarded. Indications point to brisk business before many months pass. Pigs.—At all our regular sales strong competition; is met with and good vardings are reported. In view of the high values recorded at auction purchasers over the scales find it difficult to carry on operations. We quote as follows: Bullocks, heavy prime £l7 to £l9 16s; cows, medium £l4 to £l6 10s, prime fat £l2 10s.to £l4. medium fat £lO 10s to £l2; heifers, fat £lO 5s to £ll 10s, bullocks, 3i-year, £lO 10s to £l2 10s: cows, fresh conditioned, £8 5s to £9'ss, good, £7 to £8; steers, 21-year, £7 10s to £9, 18-months best £6 to £B, 18-months medium £1 to £5. 18-months small £2 5s in £3 os; heifers, 21-year in calf S.H. £7 10s to £9; yearlings best £3 10s to £4 15s, yearlings medium £2 10s to £3 10s; dairy cows, best. £l3 to £l6 10s, ordinary £9 to £ll.
