THE RAND MINES. By Telegraph—Press Assn Copyright. JOHANNESBURG, Feb. 28. Thirty-live members of the Mine Workers’ Union refused to work with an international Socialist at the Crown Mines, who is alleged to have presided at a meeting at which leaflets wore distributed exhorting the white miners not to scab on natives, and -welcoming the rising of natives as a new army of labour. The leaflet was most unpopular. A largo section of the mine owners are strongly opposed to a relaxation of the colour bar.—Reuter Service. The ballot of the Johannesburg miners resulted in the acceptance of the Chamber of Mines’ offer of increased pay, but it refused the shorter hours offered Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
