Word has been received from Base Records that the late Lieutenant R. L. Okey was promoted to the rank of fiyst lieutenant two or three weeks prior to his being killed in action.. The death occurred' in Christchurch on Monday of Mrs. Reeves, relict of the late Hon. Win. P, Reeves and mother of the Hon. W. P. Reeves, at one time Agent-General for New Zealand in London.

Mrs. Mourant, who for some time has been residing with the Rev. and Mrs. Richards, Fitzroy, received word on Monday that her husband, Sengt. P. J. Mourant, who has been on active service for four years, is returning by the Hororata on March 15.

He was for years manager of the Christchurch Meat Company (now the New Zealand Refrigerating Company). Of late years he had been in business in London as a meat broker.

The appointment of the Rev. W. A. Sinclair to the position of organising secretary for foreign, missions, which was made last week by the Methodist Conference at Christchurch, had been withheld for some time on of war conditions, Mr. Sinclair having been selected for the position two years ago. His appointment as superintendent of the New Plymouth circuit at that time was therefore, of a somewhat temporary nature. Mr. Sinclair will probably reside in Auckland, leaving New Plymouth in April. His new. work will take him all over New Zealand and probably to Australia and the South Sea mission field, which will come under the care of the New Zealand church.
