TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs. L. A. Nolan in the chair, 6. Fraser, W. C. Weston, 0. W. Sole, A. Alexander, W. Hookham. J. M'Leod, D. J. Hughes, and B. H. Chaney. An apology was received from Mr. W. P. Nicol. Two applications for certificates of character and fitness in. connection with jockey’s licenses were granted. The chairman and Messrs. Alexander, Sole and Hughes were appointed a Farm Committee, the proposal being that the club, now that the fences have all been renewed and made secure, should graze the course with sheep. Various details in connection with the forthcoming meeting were discussed and arranged. It was decided to instal two 10s windows to the tote on the lawn enclosure. The committee considered that this would do away with any congestion at the “out” gate from the lawn caused by patrons having to leave the enclosure to make 10s investments.
The secretary reported having received a letter from the Railway Department regarding train arrangements in connection with the forthcoming meeting. A special train will leave Hawera at 7.55 a.m. arriving at New Plymouth at 11.5. The return special will leave New Plymouth at 6 p.m., arriving at Hawera at 9.22 p.m., coonecting with the rta> n on the Waitara branch. The usual 3.45 p.m. train will be delayed to leave New. Plymouth at 5.25 arriving at Hawera at 8.49 p.m., connecting with trams on the Waitara and Toko branches. Excusion tickets will not be tssued.
