WAITARA.

I Fr.tfM ovv. own coukesvondent. I Nov. 3.—The Municipal Band is proI posing to visit Ercnui on Sunday, tho *2lst inst.. and give an open-air concert in the township. I have reason to believe that it is tho wash ot the powers that ho that tho surrounding districts should identify themselves with the town more generally. The principle began with tho Chamber of Commerce, i which body recognised that tho inter- [ csts of town and country were hound : together; their efforts to get the North ! Road improved is having good results, I Tho Patriotic Committee are adopting | tiio same principle and are accmnulati ing funds and forming branch commit- | toes, so that all our soldiers who come hack wounded may be well looked after and treated all alike. Passing to tho lighter side of life/ as opportunities occur it is hoped that tho services of tho town band will be appreciated by tho country districts, and that tho visit to Urenui will be tho forerunner of visits to oilier accessible places. To defray tho expenses a collection will l>o taken up and tickets will be on sale for the band concert, which is to take place on tho Thursday following. Mr. Godwin got into quite a senous predicament last Sunday. He was one of several bathers on the beach., and while they were enjoying their swim, a burn of gorso was started, tho dames from which were fanned to tho spot where the bathers had deposited their clothes. All of them saved their, attim with tho execution of Mr. Godwin, who was too late "to rescue his belongings, and all bia clothes were burnt with the exception of a scanty article of clothing which ho was wearing during his bath, and which was not sufficient to allow ids walking homo with any show of decorum. Fortunately ho did not have a very chilly vacation, as lie was able to Ifpop warm by the heat of tho fire which was tho source of his difficulty while waiting for a reinforcement of clothing to arrive.

The sparkling sea is calling yon to its silver shores to rovol in its buffeting billows. To enjoy yourself and look vonr best, you should wear one of the how bathing dresses shown at The Big Store. The mermaids will envy you."
