AMERICAN SHIPS SEIZED. BY THE BRITISH NAVY, nr KLECTRIC TELEGRAPH COPYRIGHT. (Received Nov. 2, 2.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 1. British warships off the coast seized the American vessels Hocking and Hamborn, because they had been transferred illegally from German ownership to tho American flag. Both ships were engaged in the coastwise trade. American officials characterise the seizure as high-handed and illegal and intend strongly protesting to Britain. PASSPORTS FOR EGYPT. REQUIRED BY VISITORS. . WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. The Prime Minister indicated this morning that intending .visitors to Egypt will need to be armed, with passports, as those not in possession of them will not bo allowed to land there. THE KING’S HOME-COMING. STRICT PRIVACY ORDERED. (Received Nov. 2, 1.55 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 1. The King reached Victoria Station at 7.30. The station’ was closed and the streets near by cleared. The elaborate character of the precautions to ensure privacy attracted a large crowd and there were many public expressions of sympathy. THE GERMAN PLOT. FURTHER ARRESTS. (Received Nov. 2, 1.55 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 1. Another arrest of a German has been made in connection with tho Fay conspiracy. Six men are now awaiting trial and further arrests are expected as tho police believe there was a widespread plot involving most of the eastern sea ports in tho United States hatched by Hermann Bidder, the noted pro-Gorman editor.
