CONFERENCE OF EMPLOYEES. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON) Nov. 2. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Federated Builders’ Association of Employers opened to-day, Mr. N. Meuli (Wanganui) presiding. (Die report stated it was doubtful if anything would bo done further to amend the Wages Protection and Contractors’ Lien Act to afford better protection to contractors’ interest until the war was over. The executive was satisfied that on the whole the present general conditions of contract had' proved of great value to the trade and the general public and were 1 affording contractors a measure of protection and a recognition of the rights of the trade not previously obtaining in the Dominion. The term of five years for which. they were settled had noir expired and thev were again open to revision should either the architects or builders call for, another .^inference. The report stressed the desirableness of making the duration of an award five years, and the hope was expressed there would be no more tardy issuing of copies of new awards.
