Air. J. R. L. Stanford returned to Stratford on Saturday after a visit to Australia. Air. G. Strack, ALA., severed his connection with tho local District High .School on Friday, prior to joining the seventh reinforcements for the front. Prior to leaving the school lie was made the recipient of a set of military hairbrushes and a writing-case from the scholars and a fountain pen from his fellow teachers. Air. Strack was successful recently in securing his M.A. degree with third-class honours in economics.—Patca Press.
' A cable from London published on Saturday announced the death of Aloorliouse, the well-known aviator, caused by wounds received while bombing the Courtrai railway junction. Young Moorhonse was a Christchurch boy, and ho earned considerable notoriety for his motoring exploits both here and in Britain. Then ho took to flying, and his daring soon made him a name in the Old Country. Tho bombing of Courtrai, one of the most important German railway junctions just behind Ypros and Lille, was carried out during the recent heavy fighting, and was specially mentioned by Sir John French.
