A meeting of delegates to the Taranaki Lawn 'JonnK Association was held in tho .secretary’s office on Monday evening. Mr. John Paton (representing the liawora Club) presided, and others present wero: Messrs. J. C. Nicholson (Wavcrley), A. C. Thompson (Now Plymouth), E. W. Griffiths (Hawera Park), C. B. Webster (Patea) and L. P. Sole (Fitzroy). Tho chief business of tho meeting was the consideration of appointments for the forthcoming match between Auckland and Taranaki, ■which is to be played on the New Plymouth courts on Tuesday, 24th inst. The Auckland Association wrote suggesting the game and proposing lo send six men and six ladies. After fully considering the question the offer of the New Plymouth Club for tho use of its courts was accepted, iu was decided to write Auckland, proposing to start matches at 10 o’clock in tho morning, and inquiring in which order the northern team will play. Messrs. J. C. Nicholson and A, G. Wallace were appointed selectors of the Taranaki teamIt was realised that tho question of suitable umpires was a very important one, and liio names of several prominent players and ex-plavors wore suggested. The secretary (Mr. ii. Stocker) would bo pleased to hear from anyone willing to assist the association in this direction, particularly for the morning matches. WAVER LEY v. PATEA. At Patea, on Saturday, a match was played between the Wavcrley and Patea men, the visitors winning. Wavcrlcy won nil the singles but one. and four out of the five doubles played.
