A UNION APPEAL. FSB PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. In the Supreme Court to-day judgment was given in the case involving the powers of the executive of the Wellington Wharf Labourers’ Union to operate on the funds of the union in the Bank of New Zealand. In consequence of a protest by several members of the union against the bank making payments without" the authority of-a legally-constituted meeting of the union, the bank declined to pay, and an originating summons was brought. The Chief Justice held that the executive could withdraw funds for ordinary expenses as directors of companies ordinarily do. DETAINING POSTAL PACKET. WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. Reginald Herbert, for wilfully keeping a postal packet containing Tattersail’s tickets, was ordered by the Chief Justice to come up for sentence when called upon.
