H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.

SCHOOL EXCURSIONS. The District Traffic Manager of the New Zealand Railways has sent the following letter to the chairmen of school committees:— ‘'School excursion trains will bo run tp port stations in connection with the visit of the battleship New Zealand,, and it Is desired to ascertain the number of children likely to avail themselves of the opportunity. These excursions will he confined to scholars, teachers, and members of school committees. It is not definitely known at which ports the vessel will call, hut the excursions will bo to the nearest port visited. It is suggested that country schools should combine. I shall be glad if your committee will consider this matter at an early date ami communicate with me as cpuickly as possible.”
