SWIMMING

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ SPORTS,

Tho High School girls’ swimming sports were held at the Municipal Baths on Thursday'afternoon. In spite of the heavy rain at noon, which threatened to postpone them, the weather in the afternoon turned out all tliat could he desired. A large number of parents and friends of the girls were present to watch the events, all of which were keenly contested. Thanks to the able direction of Messrs. Tabor

and Morris, who acted as starter and judge respectively, the programme was got off well up to time and proved very interesting to the spectators. The following were the results of the several events;— '

Walking Rare.—Heat I, Dorreen Moore; heat 2, Ivy Earp ; heat 3, Clarice Sti-cci, heat -1, Grace -"Warner. Final: Grace Warner 1, Dorreen Moore

Balloon Race.—Heat 1, Grace Mount; heat 11, Olga Wallaoh ; heat 3, Nellie White; heat 4, Winnie Openshaw; heat 5, Lily Bruce, Final; Nellie White.

Beginners’ Race.—Clarice Street 1, Barbarv Corrr 2.

One Length Handicap.—Heat 1, -Nellie.: White 1, Marjory Alouat 2; heat 2, Grace Mount 1, Nora Moore 2. Final: Grace Mouat 1, Marjorie Mount 2. Maiden Raee.—Eva Marks 1, Gladys Howell and Grace Warner (dead heat)

Dog-paddle Race.—Nellie White 1, Connie Penu 2.

Back-stroke Race.—Connie Penn 1, Irene Hirst 2.

Long Dive.—Nellie White (18 yards) 1, Connie Penn 2.
