(From Our Own Correspondent.) There is every indication of tho Okato Athletic Club having a meat successful meeting on fit. -Patrick's Day- The nominations for both running and chopping break all previous records. There are 8 for the novice chop, 22 for the 100yds handicap, 17 for tho president’s chop, 6 for double-hand sawing, 21 for tho 220 handicap, 13 for tho 10-inch handicap chop, IB for the half-mile, and 11 for tho Okato handicap chop, Several of tho events will have to‘bo decided in heats, which will cause the c/fficials a good deal of extra work and give tho general public hotter value for their money. Given a fine day, a good crowd is assured, for everybody who is anybody is going to be there. I'or the convenience of competitors and others from New Plymouth, arrangements have been mado for a brake to leave on tho morning of tho Sports, returning the sarao evening. Mr. E. I.ecdom and Misses Bartlett and Stony have kindly consented to take charge of the refreshment booth, so the wants of the inner man are sure to be well attended to. The dance committee arc also expecting a record house, and are making their arrangements accordingly. -Mrs. George’s orchestra has been secured to provide the music, and everything is going to be as it should he. A meeting of the clnl> to make final arrangements will ho held in the Hall on Saturday night. The many friends of Mr. Snell aro pleased to see him about again after his serious accident.. An ordinary man would never have lived to tell Die tale. The Okato Rond Hoard intend pushing on with the erection of a bridge on Saunders Road, and will he calling tender.! for the work as soon as the plans art- approved by the I’uhlic Works Department.
