THE OHURA SHOW.
A TINE BEGINNING. (Special to Herald.) WHANGAMOMONA, March 10. .There were over 700 present at the first agricultural show held in the Ohura County, at Nihoniho, on Wednesday. It was the initial attempt- in the bush district, and was very satisfactory to the promoters. Visitors were present from all parts, and capable judges so well known as Messrs. Lancaster (j/almerston .North) and Storey (Waikato) were pleased at the exhibits of a district that, eight years ago, had a population of less than fifty persons. Mr. Jennings, M.P., opened the- show, and, "gave figures showing the position of the Ohura County from the population, industry, and stock point of view. He said the coming census would show tho population of tho Ohura County would bo close on 21)00 persons, sheep 12,000, cattle, and horses 8000, and' pigs 8000. forty tons of butter would he the output of the present season, and 150 hales of wool had already been sent out. The banquet in the evening closed a>, epoch-making day in the ■ Ohura district.
