POLITICAL GOSSIP.

LAND SETTLEMENT FINANCE BILL. IMPORTANT CHANGES CONTEMPLATED, (By Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 27. When tho Land Settlement Finance Bill was brought forward for the second reading in tho Legislative Council, today the Attorney-General announced that ho proposed to have it referred to tho Statutes Revision Committee. Some amendments of a radical character were required, and he wished to give certain members who had furnished him with some good 'suggestions an opportunity of having them considered in tho committee. The shape in which the Bill reached the Council was not the shape in which it would finally pass if the Government had its own way. The Bill was accordingly referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
