BUCKLAND AND SON. (Special to Herald.) AUCKLAND, Oot. 28. Messrs. Buckland and Son report: At Westfield on Wednesday 430 fat cattle were yarded. There was a drop of Is 6d to 2s per 1001 b under last week’s quotations, ox beef soiling at £1 Is to £1 3s 6d, cow and heifer at 17s to £1 Is, steers £0 7s 6d to £ll 10s, cows £3 15s to £8 15s. Fat young calves wore in average numbers, and were scarcely up to last week’s, but prices satisfactory. Heavy made £2 8s to £2 16s, medium £1 10s to £2 2s, light medium 15s to £1 Bs, small 3s to 10s; 69 sold. There was a moderate entry of fat sheep, and prices were the same. Heavy woolly wethers £1 4s to £1 Gs 3d, others 18s 6d to £1 3s, shorn 16s 9d to £1 6s, ewes in wool £1 to £1 4s, shorn heavy prime 16s, lighter 14s to 15s 6d; 1178 sold. Lambs sold steadily at 17s to £1 4s, prime to good 13s to 16s, light 10s to 12s; 304 sold. A record number of pigs was yarded, and there was a good demand for all classes. Baconers brought £2 7s to £2 13s, large porkers £1 14s to £2 3s, lighter £1 2s 6d to £1 10s, largo stores 10s to £1 3s, slips 15s to 18s 6d, woaners 8s to 12s; 312 were sold. At Westfield on Thursday more dairy and store cattle were yarded, buyers were numerous, and a good clearance was effected, and prices were good. Dairy cows from H. Farnsworth brought £8 10a to £l3 2s 6d, averaging £lO 6s, other sellers £7 to £9 10s, best others £5 to £0 10s, spn o.ing heifers £5 to £8 10s, choice grade Jersey yearling heifers £4 os to £5 12s 6d, 18-month Holstein heifers £5 6s to £6, 18-24-month Shorthorn dairy heifers £3 17s to £5, yearling 18-month Jersey bulls £3 5s to £7, empty young cows £3 to £4 11s, yearling steers £3 os to £3 3s, calves £1 5s to £1 15s, small pigs 12s 6d.
