THE BISHOPRIC DECLINED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. Oct. 26 Matters in connection with tho election of tho Anglican Bishop in succession to Dr. Noligan have arrived at a deadlock. A little after midnight last night the Synod elected tho Bov. John Primal Maud, vicar of St. Mary’s, Bedcliff, Bristol, to tho vacant bishopric, but he has now cabled that ho is unable to accept tho appointment, owing to family reasons. It has been decided time consideration of the election of a bishop be postponed to an adjourned session of the Synod to be hold at a time to bo fixed by the Standing Committee.
