A parcel of 200 tons of ore from tbo Built inch mine, some distance out of •the Southern Cross, has just been treated at the battery of the Associated Northern Company, and gave tho splendid yield of 1031 oz 5 dwt of gold, or an average of 7 oz 13 divt 3 gr per ton. PERTH (W'.A.), Oct. 14. Tho Government Geologist has just returned from a visit to the Bullfinch leases, situated about 20 miles to tbo north-west of Southern Cross in tbo Y’ilgarn goldfield.' As far as he coqjd judge from the limited amount of wopk done, and tho short time available for. inspection, tho prospects of tho mine are bright. A bulk sample taken by him from tbo No 1 Shaft, 100 ft deep, gave a return on assay of 21 oz 3 dwt' 16 gr per ton, the formation being apparently nbon{ 24 ft wide. Another sample taken from the wall of the same shaft gave a return of 2 oz 4 dwt 6 gr per ton. In the No. 2 shaft 50 ft deep, three samples were taken across the formation, and they assayed respectively 33 oz 10 dwt, 4 oz 13 dwt 3 gr, and 151 oz 5 dwt 12 gr per ton.
