THE PRINTER’S BUSINESS.
“GIVE US A LOCAL.” Those connected with newspaper work will appreciate the argument of the editor or the Fowler Leader, Inuuimi, who jokes with a seriousness winch' leaves an impression ; —“About once a week the printer of this paper is ripped up the uaok for lack of business principles. 0 Lord, how would wo live if wo had any ? While we have something like £7OOO invested in the printing business and our weekly pay roll is larger than that of any dry goods store in Fowler,' we manage to make both ends meet. Not long since a merchant came to us and asked us to publish some very touching resolution about llev. Truby, written by our dear friend Banker Hague; the resolutions were printed. The merchant thanked us very sweetly for doing so. A month or so afterwards he wanted an extra copy of the-Leader to send to the Rev. Truby. It took an hour to find the missing number, the, merchant was under many obligations to ns for the trouble. A short time ago ho came to the office just, as the paper was going to, press. Ho wanted to announce that brother Lightman would be .here next Lord’s Day to preaeb. A form was unlocked, and the item inserted. The paper was delayed about fifteen minutes. Again we wore thanked very uvcetly. Yesterday we wanted a darning needle.a'nd the merchant charged us a cent for it, and that was business. AVe could toll a hundred stories like that. If there was any business abo.ut us wo would get mad and swear. But there is no business about us. so we don’t care, and rather enjoy the joke on us.”
