A few nice fish have been taken from the. AVaiwakaiho during thh week. Mr. F. ‘Whittle one day, had a basket of seven of an average weight of lb. Mr. K. Frewin had one rainbow at the beginning of the week,.scaling about 3 lb. Mr. E. Elliot has had two nice catches. As the result of one outing he had two fish weighing 5 lb and 24 lb. respectively. On another occasion he landed four rainbow going about lo There has boon some capital fishing in the Baton near Stratford this season, some heavy baskets having been secured. Murray. The lake has only been stocked five years, and was formerly a barren sheet of wafer! The Great Lake records show 280 fish, weighing 2019 lb average 7.76 lb per fish. The largest scaled 17.1 lb, and Mr. C. Ellis caught it. Owing tn drought, the quantity of fish caught shows a considerable falling off. The year's balance sheet shows the receipts to have been £286 18s 7d. including £l5O 8s lid spent by the Commissioners in the North. The expenditure totals £219 8s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £74 9s lid, of which £57 12s 5d belongs to the salmon account, and £l6 17s Gd to Association funds.”
