SEDITION IN INDIA.
THE PRESS BILL DEBATE, A MAHARAJA’S ARGUMENT. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Feb. 12, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 11. A Reuter’s message states that too Government of India is entirely responsible for the release of tlio deported. The decision was partly owing to the Native communities’ proof of loyalty materially assisting the passing oi the Press Act, partly to the improved condition of the country. During the Press Bill debate in the Legislative Council the Maharaja of Burdalan declared that- educated minds in India wore perplexed at the adoption of measures against sedition there, when members of the House of Commons and a leader of the Labour Party were allowed to say the time had come for the Crown to go into the melting pot. The Maharaja insisted that socialism ought not to be allowed to enter India. An attempt to make the Bill operative for only three years was defeated by 42 to 16.
