LAWN TENNIS.
INTERCLUB MATCHES. Three interesting intorclub matches were played yesterday. The Now Plymouth Club’s seniors defeated Stratford, at New Plymouth, by 203 games to 117; the New Plymouth juniors journeyed to AVaitarn and returned victorious by 161 games to 108; and Fit/.roy were 'defeated by the AY.ALAI.I. (Stratford) team at Fitzroy by 28 games. As usual the visiting teams were well treated in each instance, the inevitable afternoon tea boinf* supplied by tbo home clubs. Beautiful weather prevailed. NEW PLYMOUTH v. STBATFORD. In the New Plymonth-Stratford match the local ladies proved too good for the inland players, but most of the men’s matches were evenly contested. There was not time to play all the combined matches, only three of the six matches being played.
