HOMICIDAL MANIA.

CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 13. A young man named Charles Brown, residing with his. mother at Springfield Road, at an early hour this morning suddenly developed homicidal mania, and attacked his mother with a carving knife in a violent .and determined manner. His. elder brother, who was present, saved his mother from getting serious injury. The police were sent for, but Brown fled and has not yet been captured.

Mr. Dallas, Devon St., is arranging a show .of Cailler's chocolate in one of his windows next Tuesday which will uo doubt attract a good deal of attentiou. The Union Company announces that the Waikare (the wellknown intercolonial passenger steamer) will leave Dunedin towards the end of December, making two trips, and will on each occasion be away for six days.
