TARATA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 11. — The Tarata Bachelors' Ball was held in tho Tarata Hall last Thursday. It surpassed in brilliancy and excellence anything or the kind held here for many years. Every detail ior the corniort and entertainment oi the guests was in perfect style. Tho floor was ia bplendid order, and the music, which was supplied by Miss Carsten, Mr Carsten. and Mr. Wilson, was in keeping with all the other arrangements. One long supper table, which was in chargo or Mrs. Sutherland, was very prettily decorated and every conceivable kind ot dish and dainty were there. Tho hall was decorated with palms, foliage and flags. About 40 couple led off m the grand march and some very pretty dresses were in evidence. Messrs. J. Paterson and P. Chapman acted a» M.C.'s and wer» kept vory busy. Dancing was kept vi till the wee sma' hours or morning, everybody enjoying themselves. The l.idies, are already talking of giving a i. turn ball at an early date. It is with extremo regret that 1 have to record tho death of Mrs Hanover, which took place rather suddenly at her residence on Tiicml.m night. Mrs. Hanover has been in h low state of health for the past four or fivo years. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. "Hanover and family in their sad bereavement.
