THE QUESTION OF COMPULSORY MILITARY TRAINING.

ADDRESS BY MR McNAB.

There were not a dozen vacant seats in tho Theatre Royal last evening, when Mr. R. M'Nab, M.A., LL.B., delivered an address to the people of New Plymouth on the question of compulsory military training, at the invitation ot the New Plymouth branch of the National Defenco League. The Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. G. Tisch) presided. On the platform v> ith him were tho president of the local branch of the Navy Defence League (.Lieut. -Colonel Okey), the secretary (Captain Hood), Mr. H. Eyre Kom-y, .in? members of the executive committee. Mr. M'Nab's table was coveiod .nth a Union Jack, while above him were draped a White Ensign and another Union Jack. A tiny Union Jack rearing itself above a china jug on iho table lent a somewhat incongruous touch +0 these decorations. Mr. Tisch, 111 introducing Mr. M'Nab, pointed out that the dominion undoubtedly should be very grateful to him for tho great work he was donx' lor the nation. He was particularly glad to see that thx-io was such a largo audience. On behalf of Nevv^ Plymouth he tendered Mr. M'Nab a very cordial reception. (Hearty applause.)
