CANADIAN'S LOSE HEAVILY. Received April 6, 5:45 ~p.m. London, April s.—Sir Walter" Kitchener's fight took place towards the Harts River. The Canadian Rifles' casualties numbered 53. Received April 7, 12.16 a.m. London, April C. —The fight on March 31st, in which the Canadians suffered, occurred at Roscfrbult, a few miles south of where Lord Methuen's defeat took place. The lists show that three officers and 23 men were- killed, 16 officers and 131 men wounded,* including Captain H. E. Hurst, of the Westtralian Mounteds, who was attached to the Royal Horse Artillery, severely. Tne Boers admit they lost 137 killed and wounded. Lieutenant Bruce Oorruthers, formerly an Australian officer, commanded the Canadians. Received April 7, 9.20 a.m. London; April 6.—The transport Custodian has left Natal for Albany conveying 23 officers and 460 men of the Fifth Victorian Mounteds. | | i
