USTTIIR FROM DEPARTMENT OF ROADS. At the Taranakt County Council meeting on Monday morning the following loiter from the Department of Roads, \YblH,nelon, dated March 3rd, was read. — The s New Plyanouth Borough Council through its solicitor, Mr Samuel, has addressed a letter to the Minister of Public Work.s wi/th .reference to a bridge which it is, proposed shall bo erected :or the Henui river in Devonstrcct. This lctt?r has been referred to me, and in connection therewith J have to enquire whether your Council is prepared to contribute towards the cost of the erection of such bridge in accordance with the apportionment as set forth in the documents forwarded to your Council by the solicitor to ' the New Plyanouth Borough Council. There floes not appear to be any doubt that your Council is in equity liable to contributo towards tho erection of tho bridge, and T shall be glad to hear of your Council's concurrence in tho proposed adjustment. , The Chairman said that the Clerk had replied that the County Council were drawmgup a petition against the erection of the bridge. Discussion was deferred till tho afternoon.
