Wellington, September 8. — The butchers of the colony are petitioning Parliament against a number of the provisions of the new Slaughtering Bill. With the regulations for inspection they agree, and desire to see them rigidly enforced, but they contend that unless local bodies erect their own abattoirs a monopoly will be created. Small farmera will beipreventedfromsellingsmall parcels and in other respects the Bill is objection^ able from a butcher's point of view.
