Nominations, 30s ; accept tances, 70s. 4. Clifton Stakes, of £25 ; second horse so receive £5 from the shakes ; 5 furlongs ; 3yrs, Bst, 4yrs and aged, 9st ; open to non-winners. Nominations for all handicaps must be in the hands of the Secretory at the Waitara Hotel on Wednesday, October 13th not later than 9 p.m., accompanied with the name, lge, pedigree, colors and performances of horse. Telegraph of&ce closes at 5 p.m. Handicaps appear on Thursday,iOctober 21st. Acceptances and general entries on Wednesday, Oitober 27th, excopt for Welter, which acceptances are due after the Clifton Stakes. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Definition of a Hack. — A hack means a horsa that has never won an advertised race of any description (Hack,, Hunter and Ponies Races excepted), and is not nominated for auy race other than hack race at time of start. Five per cent. wjII be deducted from the stakes towards defraying expenses. Jockeys must be clean and well dressed, or will be liable to a fine of £5 for infringement of,this rule. All races to be run under tho Rules of Racing, aa adopted by the Metropolitaa Club of New Zealand. All horses to be ridden in colors ; same to accompany Acceptances and General Entries. No entry or nomination will be re ceived except upon these conditions : that all disputes, claims, and objections arising shall be decided by a majority of tbe Stewards present, or whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final, except in cases of appeal provided foj? by the Rules of Racing. Horses walking over will only receive 50 per cent, of the stakes. The necessary amount in cash must accompany all Nominations and Acceptances. The Committee reserve the light of postponing tbe date of meeting, nominations, and acceptances, n'so weights, should they deem fit to do so. ' H. SPURDLE, Hon. Secretary.
