FOOTBALL.

The annual meeting of the Star Football Club was held at the Red House Hotel on Tuesday, March 13th. Mr S. Humph--ries was voted to the chair. The annual report stated that during the past season the senior team had won '.i matches, lost 2, and drawn ], the k 2 losses between final test matches for the cup with Waimate. The juniors played 13 matches, winning 10, and losing only 2, and carrying off the^junior cup. The report concluded with thanks to the press for prominence given to football matters, and with advice to members to koep up the tone and good character of the Club. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing year : — President, Mr James Paul ; Vice-presidents ; Messrs J. Arthur, H. Dempsey, E. M. Smith, MH.lt., Dr O'Carroll, F. C. Jury, H. Hammond, P. R. Carthow, J. A very, T. S. Weston, Tish, R. G. Bauchope, A. Raynes, Inspector Thomson, and His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. B. Roy). S. Humphries was re-elected Captain. G. Ryan was eleoted Vice* Captain. C. B. Lover was re-elected Secretary and Treasurer, and S. Humphries Delegate. The captain, vice-captain, and Mr It. Gillespie were elected selection committee. Work ing committee : J. Elliot, A. Renuell, T. Callaghan, W. J. Smith, F. Moore, A. Mclntyre, H. Stroud, J. Sadler, C. Allen, W. Huff, W. Standish, J. Abbott. The subscription was fixed at 2s Gd for playing members, and 5s for honorary members. Mr W. W. Smith gave a donation of 10s Gd, and Mr F. C. Jury presented the Club with a new ball. It was resolved to open the season with a tournament <$>n Thursday, sth April. Sover.ll new members were enrolled. A vote of thanks to tho chair terminated tho meeting.
