MacGowan, the jockey who was killed on Tuesday, only made his will a fortnight ago. He was worth £1,600. Mr A. S. Chirnside, owner of Linburn, has defrayed all theexpensosin connection with the funeral, which took place at Ballarat, where the deceased was a great favorite, owing to the manner, in which he supported local charities. The funeral corteye was over a mile in length. - Notwithstanding the large number of houses lately built and now in course of erection in the town, there is still an unsatisfied demand.
