Information has been received that the s.s. Duke of Westminster which left Port Chalmers for London on January 14th, has put in at St. Vincent, one of Cape Verde islands, having sustained damage to her machinery. She proceeds to Palina, one of the Canary Islands, where tho repairs will be made. POSTAGE RATES ON NEWSPAPERS. Attention has been called here to the heavy postage rates for newspapers between Australia and England, as compared with the rates between New Zealand and England. CRICKET TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. A bomb was timed to explode as the deputies were leaving the Chamber, but the intended slaughter was frustrated by both Honses adjourning unexpectedly. ANARCHIST ARRESTED. Rome, March 0. Several arrests have been made ia connection with the bomb explosion outside the Chamber of Deputies. One of the men in custody is severely injured and he is believed to be the author of the outrage.
