The programme of the Opposition party includes proposals to help producers to meet existing conditions by reducing tho cost of living, and the abolition of duties ou the necessaries of life, making up the loss to the revenue by a tax on large landed estates which aro not utilised; to adjust the national finance ; reduce military, naval, and other votos, and establish a Post Office Savings' Bank as a nucleus of a State Bank. Sydney, April 7. It is understood that the steamers Miowera and Warrimoo will shortly be laid up for the winter months. Brisbane, April 8. The Opposition party ha\e issued a programme. It includes the abolition of plural voting, lowering freights on railways to secure settlement of the land, and establishment of Agricultural Colleges. No Indian 1 coolies, Chinese, or Japanese are to be employed as agricultural laborers, but it is not proposed to put a stop to the employment! of Kanaka labor during the next Parliament. There is to be no State-aided immigration at present, but families settling in the colony will receive homestead grants. The Opposition adv jcate that the railways should belong to thle State, and will endeavor to effect retrenchment in the Civil Service. They will also urge the introduction of a Shops and Factories Bill, and payment of bonuses for export of dairy produce. Tho Protection policy will not be disturbed.
