Melbourne, March 17. A serious fire broke out in Kitchen's Candle Factory, Port Melbourne, and destroyed one hundred tons of oii. Tho damage ia estimated at ovor £7000. The Government are considering a proposal that the Government should grant a butter bonus of a penny per pound for butter realising 10d to Is per 1b in tho Home market, and I£d per 1b for that over Is. The Premier has decided to introduce an income tax next session. After further consideration, Mr Duncan Gillies has decided that his daty lies ia the colony at the present juncture, and he now decliaes to accept the Agent-Generalship.
