[from our own correspondent.] August 22. — A concert in aid of the wives and families of tho fishermen recently drowned at tho Wailnra took place in the Inglewood Town Hall on Saturday. It was a grand success, the hall being full. The following was tho programme: — Overture by Band, sonjr Mr McKcnzie, duet Messrs Taylor and A. Turner, song Mrs Spimlle, recitation Air Yore, piano solo Miss McKay, recitatio j Miss Cooper (New Plymouth), song Mr A 11. Tayior, song Miss Cooper, recitation Miss Laing, German song Mr Parlie, song Mr Tarploe, song Mr Taylor, song Mrs T. Drake, song (comic) Mr Marshall. Second part. — Band selection, song Mr McKenzie, song Mrs Spurd'o, recitation Miss Floyd, song Mr A. Turn pi 1 , song, comic, Mr Yore,scngMrTarplee, song Miss Tur: or, song comic, Mr McKcnzie, God Sivo The Queen. The entertainment went off well, and Messrs F. Brown and Tarpleo deeervo credit, as they were the chief means of getting up tin entertainment. I am told the proceeds total something over £20. A man named lUchard Brown was killed at Ngatimaru through the falling of a tree. Ho lived for a short time after the acMdont. A young son of his was at the time underscrubbing some distance from his father. Tlio deceased was 36 yeiis of age. He leaves a wifo and 8 children. The family aro not long in Taranaki.
