Auckland, August 20.— At the presentation of diplomas the University Students sang " Gendarmes " before tho professors'arrival. Sir Maurice O'Rorke on takiug the chair called for silence. The Students subsided, and tho diplomas wero presented to the following graduates : — D: H. Jackson, M.A. ;R. G. MacLaurin, M.A. jMissGurrie, B A. ; Mis>s G. Grant, 8.A. ; Miss A. C. Morrison, B.A. ; Miss Shrewsbury, 8.A. ; Mr J. S. MacLauriu BS.C. ;E. T. Qoild, 8.A. : H. Hoiton, B A. ; C. T. Major B.A. After tbo presentation, Sir Maurice O'Rorko called upon Professor Thomas to give an address. Tho students then started a song, " The Cottago by tho Sea," to tho tune of " Killalloo." Sir Maurice called for nilcnco and order in vain, and «ftor stating to tho students f at thoy hid disgraced themselves ho declared the
meeting ovor, and retired from tho hall, followed by tho whole of the professors. The students went on with their pvogrummo to tho bitter end, accompanied by a cornet and cornopean. Tlio programme comprised also a song 'Bold Undergrads oE Gowns," and for a neat finish sang tho " National Anthem." Most of the spectators stopped to sco the fun through.
