EVISON GAINS HIS CASE. I PBB PBKSS ASSOCIATION.! (Continued from yesterday.) Thornton and Henricks, t!ie two defendants, gavo evidence corroborating Rigg's evidence. They denied the interpretation put upon the letters by plaintiff, and said it mattered little to them by whom tho system was concealed from tho Archbishop j and, in fact, they did not know; They had no desire to get Mr Evison out of his position. R. C. Harding, tho publisher of Typo, said that if tho second letter contained a charge against anyone, ho took it to bo against the Archbishop for allowing a sweating syston: to be carried on in his office. Finucane, a compositor, who took a job at the Galholic Times at 32a 6d per week, said he did so because of his circumstances, there being illness in his family. Ho was glad to get the job This was all the evidence. The jury, after a Bhort deliberation, returned with a verdict for plaintiff for £50 damages, costs according to scale being allowed. Mr Jeliicoe, for defendants, asked that execution be delayed, as it was probable he would apply for a new trial. The request was granted.
