There were 111,000 bales sold for the Continent, 9000 for America, 60,000 for home consumption, and 5000 were held over. Compared with the opening prices, superior merino and crossbreds were a trifle higher, very burry sorts were easier, and the others unchanged. On the whole tho prices have been irregular. Calcutta, December 14. Desultory fighting is reported at Gilget. It is feared snow will block the passes and isolate the expedition, whose object is to forestall Russia in Pamir. ARREST OF YOUNG FIELD. New York, December 15. Edward Field, son of Cyrus Field, was arrested on a charge of stealing bonds belonging to his father and partner. INFLUENZA IN AMERICA. A thousand cases of influenza are reported at Norfolk, Virginia. Major McKinley is one of the sufferers.
