A corpulent ol£. lady was at the' London Bridge station,* down into Sussex ; she had a big V,ag and a small one, and was bustling tf.n-ough the gate t'oireach the train, when tfoe ticket collector. called out, ' " TicketyWam ! Can't pasa here till I see your/ticket !" " I ha'yv't time," she replied. " Ua#'/ U pass— can't pass !" " I wVll pass !" " Vi/Ai't ma'am ! The rule* are very ; strict, !" ' ' "A'ou'll make me miss the trainl!" she shouted. ' L /l ' Plenty of time, ma'am — train does 'not go for fifteen minutes yet." She backed out, put dawn her bags^and after a long hunt, she found, the key , and opened the big ©ne. Article 'after article was taken out and laid aside, but she could not find the ticket. The (smaller bag was submitted to the 'same treatment, the old lady all the while growling! to herself ; and when ten minutes had j slipped away she looked up and inquired,] ' " What ticket do you want 1" f " Your railway ticket, of coursei" he replied. , 1 " Why, I had tiiat in my handball the time, you impudent fellow !" .she exclaimed a?; she hustled the things kiato the ! bags. - i " Then j why didn't you show it, pna'am " " Then^ why didn't you say I railway ticket, si? 1 You want to understand that there aro lOCLdifferont kinds of tickets, sir ; and/ if ever yoiystop mo agaiin, I'll gf> ,to the hi ad man of ttio railway ataoiicef Ll'L 1 ' — : f ' '
