PRESBYTERIAN ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.

TEA AND ENTERTAINMENT. A tea and entertainment m connection with the anniversary services of the Presbyterian Church was held in the Freemasons' Hall on Monday night. There was a large attendance of the congregation and friends. The tea tables were arranged in the side room ; and the excellent catering of Mr E. Everts was fully appreciated by the many who sat down to tea. Mesdames Cottier, MacDiarmid, Paul, Misses Cottier and Hammond presided at the first table ; Mrs Ambridge, Misses Blair, Carrick, and Flight at the second ; Mesdames Mofllin, Bauchope, and Miss Grant at the third ; and Mesdames Sanderson, Morton, and Way at the f ourth. After tea an adjournment was made to the large hall, which had been very tastefully decorated with evergreens and ferns by Mrs Millar and Miss K. Hamerton. The Rev W. Grant presided at the entertainment, which proved to be an enjoyable one. The programme gone through, after singing the 100 th psalm, is appended : — Address, Chairman ; instrumental selections, Cottier family ; song, "Bonnie Sweet Bessie," Miss Blair; address, Yen Archdeacon Govett ; song, " The Living Dead," MvN. K. McDiavmid; song, "The Three Wishes," Miss Wainhouse ; address, Rcsv J. Nixon ; song, " Who Knows," Miss Hamerton; addres3, Rev A. English ; address, Rev J. Treadwell ; recitation, " The Keeping of the Bridge," Mr H. Dempsey ; «ong, " The Owl," Mr C. King ; reading, " Adventures of Jimmy Brown," Mr N. K. McDiarmid ; address, Rev Mr Hammond. Miss Hamerton and Mrs McDiarmid presided at the piano during the evening. At the conclusion of the programme, hearty votes of thanks were passed to the ladies who presided at the tables, and to the speakers, and all who contributed items to the programme. The entertainment then closed with the singing of the National Anthoai.
