LOSSES BY THE BUSH FIRES.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, — As the Bush Fires Relief Committee are undecided whether Mr Walsh or I am entitled to compensation for losses sustained. I beg to state the facts of the case : — The land was leased from Mr \V. Walsh, but the property on it was mine, as will be seen from the following details : The property belonging to me that was burnt up was a four-roomed house, and all the furniture therein, dairy and dairy utensils, trap, two sets of harness, saddle, trap-house, six' tons hay, one acre potatoes, 50 acres grass, and fencing. I was making two kegs of butter a week prior to the. fire, but I have not made an ounce since, which is therefore a dead loss, v y wife has been in hospital for four weeks since the fire, and I am still under Dr O'GarroH's care. I have three children, who are living separate from us on account of this lire. It will therefore be seen that my losses have been severe, and I only hope that the Committee will look at my case in a fair light, which is all I want. — I am, &c,
