Napier, April IG. News has been received from a source believed to be reliable, that an important discovery of gold has been made at Galatea, in the U riwera County, between Waikareuioana Lake and Whakatane.
THE COLOVIAL RKVBMUE.
Wellisgtox, April 15. Although the Customs' revenue has greatly fallen olf, the other branches of the receipts have come up beyond expectations. In addition to the railways, tho succession duties and stamps have produced handsome returns; the result being that, a surplus of over £112,000 will be shown. The accounts are nut all made up, but the balance-sheet is expected to be ready shortly.
