INGLEWOOD.
[krobi odb own correspondent.] March 31. — I have been informed, and requubted to make it public that several settlers residing in the Moa Block have suffered gruat annoyance in consequence of their orchards being ransacked and their fruit stolen. One Settler on the Junction Koad, whose apple trees were completely stripped, has a strong suspicion who the depredators are, and will bring them to justice and punish them as they richly deserve. Mr J. C. Peach, of Inglewood, on last Sunday week, about church time, also had his apples stolen. Some midnight prowler has been seen more than once carrying the ancient emblem of the wandering mendicant, an empty sack long after sunset. Ido not like to report this of the district, but it is necessary to call attention to it in the hope of putting a stop to such conduct. Surely apples are cheap enough at present. No one need steal them ; a few pence worth would give anyone their till.
