Perth, March 27. A rich roof has been discovered at Camden Harbor, which has yielded a hundred ounces to the ton. Melbourne, March 20. Sir H. Parkes, who is now on a visit to Melbourne, has been conferring with the Premier with reference to the elections of delegates to the Federation Convention, and other important matters. Melbourne, March 27. Two Victorian naval officers arc appointed to the squadron after five months' training. Sydney, March 20. A company is to be floated in England to carry out the manufactures of locomotives on the terms proposed by the Government some time back. The managing director will bo one of tho ablest engine builders in the United Kingdom. It is understood that the Railway Commissioners are favorably disposed to the scheme, Avhich will shortly be brought under the consideration of the Cabinet. The work will afford employment to a thousand hands. Since the beginning of the year there have been 38 inches of rain, the heaviest fall on record. Brisbane, March 27. The Burdekin at Charters Towers is 72 feet high and ten miles wide. The stock is drowning, and there is appalling desolation. A man, his wife, and six I children were resued from a tree after forty-eight hours in it. A large number of houses have been swept away. Several fatalities have occurred. At Townsville twenty inches of rain fell in 60 hours.
