Sydney, March 24. It is raining heavily again, and miles of country are under water at Bourke, an inland town on the Barling river. The residents arc preparing to fly, fearing groat floods. A mail contractor named Simpson was drowned while endeavoring to cross the Ilawkesbury, McLean and Mattcrson, whose match comes off this week, have both been doing good trials. Sydney, March 25. Parliament assembles on April 2!). Sydney, March 20. The heaviest rainfall on record has been since Sunday. Tho country districts arc flooded. The weather is now clearing. Newcastle, March 20. The miners in Wallaran coal mine have struck, the owners refusing to pay the district hewing rate. Brisbane, March 26. There are fears of another flood. Charters Towers is tinder water, and railway communication is still interrupted. The water at Townsville is higher than ever known, and boats are rescuing all they can. During last night a hurricane drove the residents to take refuge in the schools and hotels, and damage to the extent of £10,000 was done. Fifteen houses were wrecked, and thirty were blown oil the blocks. Two fatalities have occurred.
