POST OFFICE HOLIDAYS.

The Ist January is a close holiday. On the evening of the 31 at instant all receivers and posting-boxes will be cleared, and the contents disposed of. Mails usually despatched on the day on which New Year's Day falls will be closed the preceding night, at 7.30 o'clock. On the evening of the 31st instant a delivery of town letters over the counter will be made from 7 to 8 o'clock. Sunday hours will be observed in the private-box lobby on the Ist January next. Telegraph Branch. — On New Year's Day telegraph offices which open to the public on Sundays and holidays will bo open from 9 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
