The s.s. lonic took fire while in port, and was much injured before the flames were extinguished. GENERAL FONSECA NOT DEAD. The announceruent of General Fonseca's death proves to be erroneous. By the advice of the doctors the decrees of the Brazilian Government hare been concealed from Dom Pedro. ATTEMPTED RKVOLT. Rio de Janeiro, December 26. The soldiers and sailors, under the influence of their officers, revolted on December 18th. The disturbance was suppressed after severe fighting. FINANCIAL CRISIS EX 'EfiTED. The Brazilian Treasury is exhausted, and a financial crisis is imminent. REPUBLIC IN A CRITICAL CONDITION. There is every appearance of a serious dispute arising, and the Government is considered to be in a critical position.
