[FROM OUR O\YNOOBBBSPONDKNT.| Decismbkr 24. —A splendid rain set in on Sunday morning and continued all day, hitherto while rain has fallen at Okato and Rahotu, tho country between has had no real supply from the middle of October, and was becoming thoroughly parched, This rain will start the grass and the district will resume its wonted fertile appearance. There is some talk of a gathering of the " sports" in the district being held in a central spot about the end of January. If carried out as events have hitherto been ou the coast a good day's outing will be assured and if the mills give a holiday, the various events will have full entries. Besides the usual items it is proposed to have two or three hack races. Given a fine day there will be a large gathering of spectators.
