The annual exhibition of the Taranaki Horticultural Society will be held in the Alexandra Hall to-morrow. The Town Band will be in attendance. Mr Newton King sells the rights and privileges in connection with tho Taranaki Jockey Club's Boxing Day Meeting, to morrow at 11.30. A miscellaneous entertainment in aid of the funds of the newly formed Temperance Brass Band, will take place in the Wesleyan schoolroom, on Friday evening. It is perhaps hardly necessary to remind our readers of the great auction sale of Mr Wright's drapery, by Mr Newton Kiug, to-morrow, as the public generally are not slow to avail themselves of opportunities of securing bona fide bargains, such as will be obtainable to-morrow. Mr Wright notifies that he is relinquishing business, and the goods having to be sold, should be an inducement for everyone to attend the sale and take advantage of an opportunity which may not again occur for years. The s.s. Gairloch leaves Waitara this afternoon at 4 o'clock, proceeds to the breakwater to load part cargo of cattle ; leaving there for Onehnnga as advertised. Train, 5.30 p.m. The Secretary of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, desires to acknowledge, with thanks, tho receipt of the sum of ten shillings from Mrs Sarah King, as a donation to the fund for the erection of a verandah at the Hospital. Some sensation was caused on Nov. 29 says the Auckland Herald, when it became known that Mr Brom field, solicitor, had been found lying in an unconscious state in his office, taken to the District Hospital, and died there shortly after admission, as he had been about town the previous afternood. About a month ago deceased had fallen down in the Btrcet in a fit, and had his jaw badly injured, necessitating his being sent to the Hospital. He had been in hospital some time previously, and had one of his logs amputated. It is supposed that he had another fit in hw office, which precipitated his death. Mr Hromlield wus formerly in practice in Tauranga. His wife is believed to be in England. In all probability there will be no inquest, as his friends were cxijocting from his modo of life, that ho would be carried, off suddenly by a fit,
